Traps being set in Southwest New York

Each spring, cooperators around the state host true armyworm traps, which are traps with a pheromone lure. These traps capture adult moths and can inform us where we can expect to see true armyworm activity around the state. It is important to note that true armyworm is a sporadic pest and scouting is necessary to determine if they are present in a particular field and whether treatment is necessary. Field Crops Specialist, Josh Putman, is monitoring these insects as well as other pests in the region to notify growers in a timely manner of potential damage.
