Traps being set in Southwest New York

Each spring, cooperators around the state host true armyworm traps, which are traps with a pheromone lure. These traps capture adult moths and can inform us where we can expect to see true armyworm activity around the state. It is important to note that true armyworm is a sporadic pest and scouting is necessary to determine if they are present in a particular field and whether treatment is necessary. Field Crops Specialist, Josh Putman, is monitoring these insects as well as other pests in the region to notify growers in a timely manner of potential damage. The Agricultural Workforce Development Council of New York State (AWDC) will celebrate a decade of connecting and educating agricultural professionals when Labor Roadshow X returns this December with five in-person events and two webinars across New York State.
For nearly ten years, the Labor Roadshow has brought agricultural professionals together to learn, connect, and navigate the evolving challenges of agricultural labor. The 2026 event will continue that tradition with timely, expert-led discussions focused on the issues affecting farms and agricultural employers today—including labor law and compliance, employee engagement, retention, and workplace culture.
