The Cover Crop Breeding Network breeds fall-sown cover crops for traits like fall emergence, winter survival, spring vigor, high biomass, hard seed, and non-shattering pods

Join us to walk the trial fields, talk about what we're seeing (and not seeing), hear about past years' results, and learn about CCB lines approaching commercialization.

Advanced line trials - Crimson clover, hairy vetch, winter pea, and winter canola

Planting date trials - Cereal rye and winter pea

Breeding nurseries - Cereal rye and winter pea (across the road & optional!)

This event brings together livestock farmers and the community to learn about local bulk meat sales and to taste recipes created for NYS schools, featuring meats from local farms. We are currently looking for farmers to participate in the event!

We will start our Value-Added Dairy Processing discussion group series with a guest speaker from Farm Credit East. On May 2nd at noon, Jess May will join us to discuss the lender's point of view for on-farm processing and diversification. This is free to join and will be recorded.

Good Farmers Guild of WNY will be hosting a farm tour and potluck at Rise'N'Swine Farm on Friday, May 31st at 5 pm. Rise'N'Swine has built a successful business raising cattle, pigs, and chickens on pasture, and has an on-farm butcher shop. After the farm tour, there will be a potluck dinner. Please bring a dish to pass and your own plate, bowl, cup, and cutlery.

Rise'N'Swine Farm is located at 9806 Wagner Rd, Holland, NY 14080. There is ample parking in front of the farmshop. Farmers, people who work on farms, and ag service providers are welcome at this free event!

Join the Good Farmer's Guild for a potluck and farm tour at Rise'N'Swine Farm to learn about their pasture-raised livestock and on-farm USDA red meat processing facility. The event is free, and you may bring a dish to pass.

Join us for a field day to explore broiler production, processing, and finances. Meghan Snyder of Sunny Cove Farm will be our host. She raises small batches of organic broilers, processing them on-farm under the 1,000 bird exemption.

The Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza virus remains a concern for New York farmers. 

New York Farm Bureau (NYFB) and Northeast Dairy Producers Association (NEDPA) are hosting a special webinar at 3:00 PM EST July 10 in collaboration with Cornell CALS PRO-DAIRY. Panelists will feature experts from the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets, and American Association of Bovine Practitioners. The goal is to provide current and recommendations to help guide management on the farm.

Join us to learn about sustainable poultry! Cornell Extension poultry specialist Amy Barkley will guide us in selecting the right breeds, establishing ecologically beneficial production, troubleshooting pests & diseases, and processing. We will tour a 5A-certified on-farm processing center and watch a demonstration. Everyone who identifies as a woman in agriculture is welcome to this free learning circle. Lunch is provided, so please register in advance! This event will allow participants to connect with fellow land stewards and producers and support everyone in learning together. We will discuss full-circle sustainable poultry production, from breed selection, housing, pests & diseases to processing and marketing. REGISTER
