Respirator Fit Testing Clinics

July 16 - July 17, 2018

Clinic appointments are one hour long, and groups of 4 workers can be seen at a time. Medical evaluations, fit tests, and training's are available in both English and Spanish.

If you are unable to attend the clinic in your DEC region you may schedule an appointment at another clinic location.

When calling to schedule an appointment please have the following information available:
  • Total number of people attending from your farm
  • Name of each person being scheduled
  • Language spoken by each attendee
  • Make and model of each respirator to be tested

To schedule an appointment please call the NYCAMH office during the date range listed above and ask to speak with farm respirator clinic scheduler.

A respirator fit test ensures that a particular make, model, and size of respirator fits the wearer's face and will meet the wearer's needs. A fit test is specific to the make, model, and size of respirator.

If a worker wears more than one style of respirator, including filtering facepieces, they must be fit tested for each one. Please keep in mind while determining who will come to the clinic that a clean-shaven face is a necessity for masks to be effective and for fit testing to be possible.

It is important to us that your workers be protected from any respiratory hazards. It is important to us that you be protected from potential OSHA or DEC fines. If you have any questions, please call us.

NOTE: When calling to schedule an appointment, ask to speak with a farm respirator clinic scheduler.

Memoir Reading: Barn Gothic

December 4, 2025
Bath, NY

Barn Gothic is an elegy for family farmers and an intimate portrait of three generations laboring to be fathers and sons while their livelihood falls apart. Beautifully told with a farmer's restraint and a poet's grace, it is a story of personal loss amid corporate corruption and of finding a way forward when everything you know disappears.

NY Small Farms Summit 2025: Stronger Together

December 5, 2025
Alfred, NY

We hope you will join us on December 5th for the 2025 New York Small Farms Summit! This is an opportunity to meet other farmers and ag supporters, learn about research and education projects, and set priorities for future efforts to grow small farm success.

At the Allegany County site, we will focus on giving trees a chance and how trees build resiliency on small farms. Whether attracted to fruit, nuts, vegetables, fodder or shade, trees can be an integral part of a successful farming system. Join us as we explore the opportunities for resiliency that come from adding tree crops or managing wooded areas of your farm for agroforestry or silvopasture systems.
