Poultry Processing Workshop - Naples, NY

Poultry Processing Workshop - Naples, NY

This program is one of four statewide roadshow stops across the state, offering farmers a full poultry processing experience. The class will teach skills that build confidence, reduce costs, and strengthen your farm's independence. This hands-on workshop gives farmers the chance to process a bird from start to finish, learning every step of the workflow used by small farms across the state.

Each participant will receive one bird to process and take home, gaining real experience with:

• Humane handling and proper dispatching

• Scalding and plucking using correct temperatures and timing

• Evisceration techniques with sanitation checkpoints

• Chill tank management for food safety

• Shrink bag packaging and labeling

• Safe transport and storage of your finished bird

You'll leave with a fully processed chicken that you completed yourself, plus a processing knife and the skills to repeat the process on your own farm or homestead.

This workshop is for beginning farmers, new growers, and small scale poultry producers looking to build hands on skills. Space is limited to ensure a high quality, hands on learning experience.

Cost: $50/person.
