Calf Management Workshops- Session I

November 9 - November 16, 2016


The SCNY Dairy & Field Crops Team, in conjunction with the CNY Dairy & Field Crops Team, CCE Madison County and Cornell University's Pro-Dairy Program is putting on a 2-day calf workshop, offered in two different sessions later this fall. The workshops will have a classroom component in the morning and a hands-on portion in the afternoon. Price for the calf workshop is $50 (2 days, includes lunch and materials both days).
Day 1 Focus - Maximizing calf potential before birth, colostrum management and pre-weaned calf nutrition. Hands-on activities of evaluating close-up cows and maternity area, testing colostrum and serum.
Day 2 Focus - Calf health, calf housing and ventilation. Hands-on activities of calf necropsy, calf health assessments and housing evaluation/walk-through.
