Cortland County 2015 Farm Trail

October 24, 2015

Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) of Cortland County and Cortland County Farm Bureau will be hosting the 2015 Cortland County Farm Trail along Route 13 on October 24, 2015 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. This event is a free, family-oriented educational event that offers the public a chance to visit four working farms and learn about agriculture.
East River Dairy, Trinity Valley, Hilltop Divine Dairy, LLC and Reakes Country Goods will open their doors for the public to experience agriculture first hand through farm tours and activities.
East River Dairy will host the Welcome Center for the Farm Trial. Participants can meet the Cortland County Dairy Princess, view farm equipment, tour the milking parlor, maternity pens and possibly see a baby calf born!
At Trinity Valley you will be able to see where they process and bottle their own "creamline" milk, purchase tasty baked goods, locally grown produce and much more. For your lunch during the farm trail, a chicken BBQ will be available to purchase!
Did you know a robot can milk cows? When you stop at Hilltop Divine Dairy, LLC you can see first hand the advancement of technology in agriculture. The farm will have several agricultural educational stations to view including the robotic milker. The whole family and people who service the farm will be there to talk about what they do!
Round out the day by taking a family wagon ride into the pumpkin patch for getting your last minute pumpkins for Halloween or just enjoy a family hay ride at Reakes Country Goods. Warm cider and popcorn will be available for the special occasion marking twenty years in business. Shop not only for homegrown and local produce but also for local artisans' gift wares, home decor and antiques.
