Empire Sheep Producers Association 2021 Annual Meeting

This is a reminder that the Empire Sheep Producers Association 2021 Annual Meeting will be held via Zoom on Monday March 15, 2021, beginning at 6 pm. All ESPA members, other sheep producers, and people affiliated with NYS's sheep industry are invited to attend. We are looking for additional members to help with leadership and other activities. If you are not yet a member and would like to join, please download, complete, and print the attached form and send it with a check for $40 annual dues to:

Heather Pearce, a wool production and specialty markets consultant for the American Sheep Industry Association (ASI) from Englewood, CO will be the guest speaker. Heather will talk about wool marketing and managing your flock for quality wool; and will offer updates from ASI on services available to members and issues that the organization is addressing.

Dana Havas, Agriculture Team Leader, Cornell Cooperative Extension Cortland County will speak about the new Cornell Program Work Team (PWT) for animal fiber. The PWT is developing programming and educational opportunities, and identifying areas of research, that will improve the welfare of the NYS animal fiber community and its stakeholders. Mike Thonney and tatiana Stanton from Cornell University sheep program will provide updates, as well.

The annual ESPA business meeting will follow the program. All ESPA members in good standing may vote and non-members are welcome to attend. The agenda will include the 2021 budget approval, revised bylaws adoption, a legislative report including status of S3396/A5380 for plant and animal fiber promotion through the NYS Grown & Certified program, planning for the 2021 State Fair, election of 2021 officers, and other business.
