Pasture Prep: Virtual Ruminations for your 2021 Grazing Program

March 2 - April 6, 2021


CCE SWNY Dairy, Livestock and Field Crops and SCNY Dairy and Field Crops teams are excited to offer a grazing series with an emphasis on dairy herds, but all grazers are welcome! Join us VIRTUALLY for a 6 week series on unique topics around grazing.
This series will be offered every Tuesday starting March 2, 2021 at Noon EST.
Our last session on April 6, 2021 will be a panel discussion at 7pm with our series presenters. Presenters will include Betsy Hicks, Alycia Drwencke, and Mary-Kate MacKenzie with CCE, Troy Bishop, Upper Susquehanna Coalition Regional Grassland Conservation Professional, Sam Corcoran with UMass Extension, Jeff Wheeler and Dr. George Dawson with Diamond V, and Don Burkhard.

Chainsaw Safety & Forestry BMP's

Perfect for beginners or experienced users needing a refresher. We'll cover safety features and basic maintenance of the modern saw and learn kickback prevention techniques. Participants will be able to try on various PPE and learn ergonomic practices. Interested participants will learn to safely start up, throttle up, and turn off a saw. You may bring our own saw if you choose, there will be no cutting in this class.

FAMACHA Workshop at Alfred State College

June 14, 2025 : FAMACHA Workshop at Alfred State College

Join Cornell Cooperative Extension for a morning of classroom learning, hands-on FAMACHA and 5 Point Check practice, and a pasture walk at Alfred State College's teaching farm to learn about putting IPM to work on pasture using evasive grazing techniques. An exam will be provided, and students passing the exam will receive program certification, including a FAMACHA Card.
