On-Farm Transition Cow Support w/ Alltech (Spanish & English)

Alltech's On-Farm Support Specialist, Jorge Delgado will be leading discussion around Transition Cow Care and the Maternity Pen. Both Spanish and English speaking employees and owners are invited to attend!
This is great opportunity to come together over a meal to troubleshoot problems on-farm, and bridge gaps between owners and employees, including language barriers!

Agenda:

11 am - Farm Owners/Managers meet with Jorge to uncover factors to engage employees.  Employees that arrive with owners/managers will be taken on brief tour of the farm

Noon - Farm Owners/Managers and Employees enjoy lunch together

12:45 - Employees meet with Jorge to discuss best management practices and troubleshoot problems with transition cow management

3 pm - Safe Travels Home

Perfect for beginners or experienced users needing a refresher. We'll cover safety features and basic maintenance of the modern saw and learn kickback prevention techniques. Participants will be able to try on various PPE and learn ergonomic practices. Interested participants will learn to safely start up, throttle up, and turn off a saw. You may bring our own saw if you choose, there will be no cutting in this class.

Join Cornell Cooperative Extension for a morning of classroom learning, hands-on FAMACHA and 5 Point Check practice, and a pasture walk at Alfred State College's teaching farm to learn about putting IPM to work on pasture using evasive grazing techniques. An exam will be provided, and students passing the exam will receive program certification, including a FAMACHA Card.
