2020 Fall Beef Meeting

October 26, 2020

2020 Fall Beef Meeting

2020 has been a challenging year for beef farmers with many new external challenges facing you. Although important, there is little you can do about challenges such as COVID-19 market disruptions or a shortage of processing capacity. This meeting will look at two important management opportunities that every farmer can impact on their own farms to increase their farms profitability.

Topic 1: Reproduction- The Key to Profitability
  • Pregnancy Rate: Why is this important and how does it impact profitability?
  • The impact on body condition on breeding
  • Breeding soundness exam
  • Role of nutrition and total herd health
  • Replacement heifer strategies
Topic 2: Cattle are Ready to Harvest
  • Live animal quality grading - learn what to look for to determine that an animal is ready to harvest
  • Importance of meat quality
  • Matching your meat's quality to eating experience to the expectations of your customers
