The Southwest Dairy, Livestock, and Field Crops Team and Cornell Cooperative Extension Steuben County are excited to host the Steuben County Crop Symposium. Meeting will take place November 14th from 1:00 - 4:00 PM. Cost is $5 and can be paid at the door with cash or check. Pre-registration is required. Regsiter online or contact Kelly Bourne at 585-268-7644 ext. 10.

1:00pm: Check In and Welcome
1:15pm: Determining Land Rent Prices - Katelyn Walley (20 minutes) no credits
Attendees will learn about a recent survey conducted to determine the average rental prices of farmland in SWNY. Speaker will also cover how to help determine equitable rental prices.
1:35pm: Tar Spot in Corn - Gary Bergstrom (30 minutes)
Discussion will include the identification, control, and future management of tar spot in corn. Control topics will include cultural and chemical management tactics.
2:05pm: Integrated Pest Management - Katelyn Miller (30 minutes)
Speaker will discuss the concepts of integrated pest management including, but not limited to, available tools, thresholds, and scouting.
2:35pm: 15-minute break
2:50pm: Stand productivity - Joe Lawrence (30 minutes) no credits
Speaker will discuss how to reinvigorate hayfields after flooding events.
3:20pm: Weed Control in Pastures and Hayfields - Vipan Kumar (30 minutes)
Speaker will discuss general management strategies to control weeds in pastures and hayfields. Management tactics will include cultural, physical and chemical control options.
3:50pm: Closing Remarks and Survey
